PRES DE LA RIVIERE

The Canadian singer/poet Martin Leon has translated Close to the River, and set it to his own music.
It was broadcast on CBC Radio-Canada on March 26th, and a transcription will hopefully follow by and by.
Our thanks to Jane, Monique and Martin for their love, generosity and talent... Anno would have been honoured.

Who Said the Race is Over? is currently being translated into French. In the meantime, here's a translation of Ultraviolence, sent in by Julio (J.P.), to whom many thanks:

Julio has just sent in this translation of Billy's song "Strong and Low":

I read the last post of Billy in the remembrance page and I found his words so beautiful that I directly

[Billy's original words:]

Heaven is such a bore
Heaven forbid my anger
Silence has tightly wrapped its fingers around my science
Help me lessen the grip and get this message to your ears:

Hear our name strong and low

Let me not overstep this line, for it is not mine alone
The patterns I seek in song are hanging like ghosts in thin air
I know they are here or there
They long to be found don't they?

Watch them hang strong and low

Couldn't we have broken out like some plague?
I can't begin to gauge where we were pointed.
At no point have I come off course
Nor could I with this noble duty,
this noble force residing inside me
this noble rot.
